The Running, it's not going..

A swollen knee has put my running on hold for the time being.  I'm not ready to get worried about the knee quite yet so I've been working out on my Tread Climber again.  I have to admit I like the workout on it better than running.  The definition I get in my muscles is better on the Tread Climber.  I just like the workout more.  I feel like I accomplish more, feel like I sweat more and I know I burn more calories.

There are just some things that I want to do.  I put them off when I was shoveling pills in my mouth and feel like I don't want to miss another thing in my life.  And, if I don't take care of this knee-I could end up shoveling more pills in my mouth (the non narcotic type, but still).

At some point, I'm going to have to figure out what things I have to let go and which things I can hold on to.  I'll figure it out next week if I have to put it on hold a little longer, let it go or truly go for it.

Wish me luck on this next journey.

Day 3 of Couch to 5K

This running this may be doable.  *hack cough hack* Yes, I smoke, yes, I need to quit.

I'm excited about actually being able to run!  I ran when I was younger and lost a lot of weight doing it.  I'm not concerned about the weight loss at this point, I just want to be able to complete the 5K in September.  If anyone is around Eugene, OR I'll be there.

Running-yes I am going to run.

After I got out of boot camp years ago I said I wasn't interested in running for any reason ever again.  I ran a few times for fitness tests while I was in the Coast Guard but once I got out, I may have jogged a little but  that was it.  I did run track in High School but was never very fast.  I remember the track coach asking me if I wanted to throw shot-put instead.  He was so kind.

I'm training for a 5K.  I'm going with the Couch to 5K program because I like simple.  Yes, KISS (keep it simple stupid).  I'm going to an addiction recovery weekend in September in the next town over.  I'm going for the fellowship, the food and to run.  My new friend Bob lives in the area too, so that should make it even more fun.

Follow me a little, I'm not exciting but I'll be consistent now that I'm running.
